Weekly round-up for Sunday 26 March 2023. Plenty to look at this week and we start with the first of our Cup Finals.

Division 2 Cup 22-23, sponsored by friends of Rowan Fitzgerald - Final

Leamington Hibernian Reserves 2 Pig and Fiddle 0
Hib’s Reserves take home the first silverware of the season but it was a close run thing as The Pig fought all the way. A goal in each half was enough to win the game, Scott Hammond with the first half strike, Harry Hartin with the second half finish. and on chances it was the better team on the day that won. The Pig are still in the hunt for Honours as the League Title is still up for grabs but Hib’s reserves are also in the hunt for a double.

We move on to the Andy Campbell Charity Invitation Cup 22-23 - Round 3

Hampton Magna 3 Dynamo Leamington 0
Matthew Hughes set Magna on their way with a brace inside the first nine minutes. Dynamo failed to breakthrough and it stayed that way until only eight minutes to go when Jon Byrne added a third to round it all off. Magna go into the next round.

Newbold 7 (seven) Southam Sporting 1
Newbold were too good for Southam here and Reece Mason led the way with a hat-trick. Jordan Bedford grabbed a brace and Daniel Masters and Dan Holt added the others. Newbold progress into the next round.

George Dutton Charity Invitation Cup 22-23 - Round 2

Khalsa 5 Cubbington Albion 0
Khalsa were dominant here. Manjinder Dhaliwal notched a brace. Josh Mann had started the ball rolling on fifteen minutes. Dhaliwal popped up with a goal either side of half time. Sukharj Nijjar also added and Sundeep Kalsi finished it all off with five minutes to go. Khalsa move into the next round.

And we finish our Cup matches with The Andy Campbell Charity Invitation Cup 22-23 - Round 2

Leamington Hibernian 0 HRI Harbury 3
The veg boys on song here, led by Sam Mitchell in the eighth minute. Aaron Ellard added a second on the half hour mark. Sam Pye added a third just after the break and it was too much for Hibs to come back. HRI go into the next round.

We move on to League action now and we start as usual in Division 1

Chadwick End 2 Bishops Itchington 2
Ding Dong here. Kasey Smith put Bishops ahead just past the half hour mark. Mark Turner pulled Chadwick level just after the break. Ten minutes later and Craig Watkin struck to restore the Bishops advantage. Ten minutes after that and up popped Ross Jackson to make it all square again and that’s how it stayed.

We move on to Division 2

AFC Warwick 3 Ettington Rovers 1
A Jordan Pearce penalty wasn’t enough here for Ettington. Dan Long had scored a brace in the first thirty five minutes. Aran Guner added a third at the death and AFC take all three points.

Khalsa Reserves 1 Heathcote Athletic 3

David Benton with the twelfth minute goal here to put Khalsa reserves in front. It stayed that way till the second half, which then turned the game on it’s head Kristoffer Burbury got the equaliser ten minutes into the second half. Joe Graham added a second to give Heathcote the advantage and then Owen Davies added a third to take the points home to Heathcote.

And on to Division 3

Wellesbourne Wanderers 0 Kenilworth Royal Oak 2.
A late William Harte brace stealing the points for Royal Oak here as the Wanderers were in contention. His first with only twenty minutes to go and the second was in the last minute. Royal Oak are closing the gap on the teams above them but it’s going to be a close run thing in Division 3 with several teams in with a shout!

We round off as usual with Division 4

HRI Harbury Reserves 6 Wellesbourne Wanderers Reserves 2
Fastest goal of the day here and it was Luke Sangha who stuck it away to give The Veg boys the lead. In the next nine minutes they scored another two via James Smith and David Wanless. Daniel Holtom pulled one back for Wanderers on the half hour mark. Sangha then struck again to restore the veg boys advantage before the break. Six minutes into the second half and Sangha had notched his hat-trick. However two minutes later Dawid Peplkinski had scored another for Wellesbourne to keep their hopes alive. Those hopes died two minutes later when Jack Villiers scored to restore the four goal advantage and secure the points.

Long Itchington Reserves 5 The Hollybush 1
Two goals in the first five minutes set The Long Men on their way. Elliott Parasmo and Will Bradbury getting the goals. Travis Lea scored for The Hollybush to give them some hope but Dominic White restored the two goal advantage on the half hour mark. That’s how it stayed until Christopher McShane added another with twelve minutes to go and Parasmo popped up to get his second with two minutes left on the clock. The Long Men stay Top and it's very tight up there!

Stockton 2 Whitnash Sports and Social Club 1
A top of the Table clash here and second placed Whitnash drop points. A Ryan Barnard brace doing the damage as Stockton, with games in hand, start to squeeze up the gap at the Top. Louis Todd on the mark for Whitnash but Stockton held on to take the points. Several sides are still in the hunt for the League Title as we approach the closing weeks of the season.
