Weekly round-up for Sunday 23 April 2023. We have a cup Final, two semi-finals and other rounds to start and then some League action.

We start with the Tracey Thomas Challenge Cup 22-23 - Final

Bishops Itchington 0 Long Itchington 1

Challenge Cup 23

Challenge Cup 23

A slow burner here. Both sides looked for the opening but neither keeper was troubled and it looked as though penalty kicks were looming. With only five minutes to go Michael Clement popped up with a shot from the edge of the area, which looked to be going wide until it took a wicked deflection, wrong footing everyone as it bounced into the net. Bishops pushed for the equaliser but it was too late and the Long Men held on to take the Challenge Cup crown.
The Trophy was presented by Roger Thomas on behalf of the Thomas family

Cancer Research UK Charity Invitation Cup 22-23 - Semi-Final

HRI Harbury 2 Leamington Hib’s 2

A thriller here and the Veg Boys with two very late goals recovered from a two goal deficit to take the tie. Hib’s went ahead in the first half and extended the lead early in the second half. Harbury were staring defeat in the face. With only twenty minutes left on the clock Luke Sangha pulled one back to give them home and eight minutes later Vitor Machado grabbed the equaliser. That’s how it stayed and so to penalty kicks.
HRI Harbury win 4 - 3 on penalties.
