Weekly round-up for Sunday 5 March 2023. We have League and Cup action so we start as usual with the Cup games.

Before we do, the local football scene lost another stalwart this week.
Dave Morris was known as Mr Cubbington and was heavily involved with Cubbington Albion FC and also a supporter and friend of Cubbington FC. He was awarded his 50 years service medal by the FA for his involvement with local football in 2002 and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He played alongside his brother Clive in the Cubbington Albion side that won the Aston Villa Cup in 1973. A minute’s silence was held to remember Dave before today’s game at Stonehouse Close between Cubbington FC and HRI Harbury.

Vitor Machado made it all square before the break and then he put Harbury in front just before the hour mark. Charlie Mitchell then added another five minutes later. Harry Conway then put things out of reach with a brace in a ten minute spell to take The Veg boys into the next round.

Leamington Hibernian 3 Bishops Itchington 3

A thriller here and Hib’s came from two down to get back into it, and Bishops grabbed a very late response to take it to Penalty Kicks. Callum Bell had put Bishops in front just before the break. On the hour mark Michael Clough made it two and Hib’s were under the cosh. A seven minute spell saw David Jones and Connor Farrell take their chances and Hib’s were back in the game. Seven minute slater and Jones grabbed his second to put Hib’s in front but as the clock ticked down Bishops fought back . With one minute left on the clock Craig Watkin became the Bishops saviour as he netted to take the tie to Penalty Kicks.
Leamington Hibernian win 4 - 3 on penalties and go into the next round.

All one way traffic here as Khalsa ran riot. Barinder Uppal started it off with a goal after ten minutes. Andy Hood made it two seven minjutes later. On to Division 2

Heathcote Athletic 3 Khalsa Reserves 1
A very late consolation for Khalsa Reserves from Luke Warby but the damage had already been done. Owen Davies had put Heathcote ahead after twenty minutes. A James Proctor strike shortly after made it two nil. Warby struck to get Khalsa back in it but Proctor bagged his second at the death to round it off.

It all happened in a close first half here. Dan Twigger putting Wardens in front after only five minutes. Ryan Baghria made it all square fifteen minutes later. Twigger grabbed a second two minutes later to restore the Wardens lead. Daniel Eykyn restored parity just on the half hour mark but Guy Pearson immediately went back up the other end and restored the Wardens advantage again. And that’s how it stayed.

Wellesbourne Wanderers 2 Napton 3
An Aaron Mobley brace in a two minute spell just before half time wasn’t enough for the Wanderers here. Napton came back strongly in the second half and goals from Jake Hyams, Ryan Fox and Saihou Ndong taking the points home to Napton.

We finish as usual with Division 4

The second half sparked into life on the hour mark and in another brisk five minute spell The Bowling Green added two more goals through Jake Robbins and Benjamin Wilson.
