Weekly round-up for Sunday 24th March 2024. We have our first Cup Final to report and that’s where we start .
Division 4 Cup 2023-24, sponsored by Spa Trophies - Final
A F C Snitterfield v Massey Ferguson Sports&Soc
Massey Ferguson
A storming start to this Cup Final when Massey Ferguson struck inside the first minute from Ross Davis. The Snitterfield keeper got down well to save a firm shot destined for the corner of the net, but the ball bounced back into the box and was slammed home from close range by Davis who was lurking on the edge of the six yard box. Masseys seemed to settle but Snitterfield were pushing and played some neat football and looked threatening. It was no surprise when Snitterfield equalised through Talib Bellamy just before the half hour mark. The pressure continued and ten minutes later Bellamy struck again to give Snitterfield the advantage just before the break.
The second half continued in the same vein and both sides had chances. As Masseys continued to push for the equaliser the game started to get stretched and gaps appeared. Neither side could capitalise. As the final whistle loomed, a scramble in the Massey's box gave Oluseyi Sorinola enough space to shoot goalwards, his clumsey effort was goal bound but the unfortunate Massey's defender failed to get his feet sorted and could only help the ball into the net. Snitterfield held firm and took the Title.
AFC Snitterfield 3 Massey Ferguson 1

Bishops Itchington Reserves 1 Wellesbourne Wanderers 0
A minute's silence for Mark Watkins, former Chadwick End player and Youth Team Manager
A close game here and it was a solitary strike from Kyle Locklin that sealed the win for Bishops after half an hour.
Bishops progress into the Cancer Cup Final.
And now to the George Dutton Charity Invitation Cup 2023-24 - Round 2
Khalsa 3 HRI Harbury 1
A late consolation here for HRI from Vitor Machado with five minutes left on the clock. Khalsa had already sealed the win with goals from Rory Kirwan, an own goal and with ten minutes to go Andrei Alboteanu rounded it off.
Khalsa progress into the next round.
The remaining cup game for the day was a Round 1 tie in the Andy Campbell Cup
Cubbington FC 2 Dynamo Leamington 4
Ryan Woodward gave Dynamo the lead, which was soon cancelled out by a John Spencer strike on the half-hour mark, meaning the game was level going into the half-time break. Dynamo were quick off the mark in the second half, with Tom Callaghan restoring their advantage. Aaron Rowley extended Dynamo's lead a few minutes later, but the game was far from over. With chances at both ends, it was Cubbington who struck next, with Spencer grabbing his second with twenty minutes to go. However, as Cubbington pushed for an equaliser, Ryan Yearsley grabbed Dynamo's fourth from close range. Cubbington pressed hard to get back into the game, but Dynamo held firm until the final whistle and go through to the next round.
We move on to League action now and we start as usual with Division 1(A)

Napton 4 Kenilworth Royal Oak 2
A tight first half that went nip and tuck. Joshua Cox opened the scoring after seventeen minutes to give Royal Oak the lead. James Pelter replied for Napton three minutes later. Suroush Lisle-Pourzyaie then scored for Napton just before the half hour mark only to see William Harte reply for Royal Oak to make it all square again two minutes later. With half time looming Chris Watts then struck to give Napton the advantage at half time. Just before the hour mark and Lewis Elkins added a fourth for Napton and that’s the way it stayed.
Whitnash Town 3 Real Barston 2
A brace from Benjamin Valatka wasn’t enough here for Real Barston. Strikes from Travis Lea, Matthew Hughes and winner from an own goal were enough for Whitnash to take the points.
We finish off as usual with Division 4
Sporting Foresters 3 Kineton Sports and Social Club 2
An amazing last eight minutes here saw the game turned on it’s head. Kineton went ahead through James Shutt just past the half hour mark. The lead was doubled by Malachy O’Sullivan on the hour mark and it seemed all wrapped up. With eight minutes to go Matthew Joyce struck to give Foresters some hope. Then with four minutes left Daniel Eykyn made it all square and in the last minute Daniel Batchelor completed the comeback to take all three points for the Woodmen.
Wellesbourne Wanderers Reserves 0 Pig and Fiddle 9
All one way traffic here as Calum Gellender started the ball rolling with the fastest goal of the day after five minutes. He’d added his second six minutes later. Sam Perry added a third and Danne Masterson made it four just before half time from the spot. The second half saw Perry strike twice in six minutes for his hat-trick, and Kieran Morgan then added a hat-trick of his own in an eight minute spell.
