Weekly Round-up for Sunday 19 February 2023. Lots of Cup matches to start with and that means the Cancer Research UK Charity Invitation Supplementary Cup 22-23 - Round 2

FC Snitterfield 0 Sporting Foresters 0
A very close run game here as the sides could not be separated after normal time and so it went to penalty kicks.
AFC Snitterfield win 4 - 3 on penalties.

Southam Sporting 1 Whitnash Town AFC 1
Joshua Thomas had given Sporting the lead after only ten minutes. Jamie Lee had made it all square again on the half hour mark and that’s how it stayed. So to penalty kicks.
Whitnash Town AFC win 3 - 4 on penalties.

We move on to The Tracey Thomas Challenge Cup 22-23 - Round 3

Bishops Itchington 2 Leamington Hib’s Res 2
A Harry Hartin goal after fifteen minutes gave Hib’s the lead. Just before the hour mark and Connor Mort added a second just before the hour mark. Bishops fought back with a late surge and Craig Watkin halved the deficit with twenty minutes to go and ten inutes later Josh Cole had made it all square. That’s how it stayed so on to penalty kicks.
Bishops Itchington win 8 - 7 on penalties.

Dynamo Leamington 3 Leamington Hib’s 4
A cracking ding dong here after Connor Farrell put Hib’s ahead with the fastest goal of the day in the first minute. Lee Watton with the quick reply on five minutes to make it all square. Rhys Pugh restored the Hib’s advantage just past the half hour mark and Ash Rowley was then the Dynamo scorer to make it all square again. Josh Bailey stepped up on seventy minutes to give Hib’s the advantage again. Once more Dynamo replied in five minutes through Nicholas Kajkowski and penalty kicks loomed. With only four minutes to go Farrell popped up to get his second and take Hib’s into the next round.

We move on to the George Dutton Charity Invitation Cup 22-23 - Round 1

HRI Harbury 0 Long Itchington 0
Another close Cup tie here as it remained goalless after normal time. So off it went to penalty kicks.
Long Itchington win 3 - 4 on penalties.

Khalsa 7 Stockton 0
The gulf in Divisions showed here as Khalsa were in control from early on. Ryan Sahota got his first on five minutes and had a hat trick by half time. Gurdeep Dulay had another and Josh Mann had also added a brace of his own to make it six in the first half. Sahota added another shortly after the re-start and it was all done. Stockton continued to press but it was in vain. Khalsa go into the next round.

We move on to the Cancer Research UK Charity Invitation Supplementary Cup 22-23 - Round 1

Hampton Magna 3 Engine FC 0
A Jason Bradshaw goal on the half hour gave Magna the lead and that’s how it stayed until just past the hour mark when Ryan Leahy added a second. Nathan Stoute then completed the scoring with a third with ten minutes to go.

We move on to Division 3 Cup 22-23, sponsored by Nick Chambers, in memory of his father Chris - Semi-Final

Kenilworth Royal Oak 2 Wellesbourne Wanderers 3
With Robert Ormston bagging a brace for Royal Oak before half time, and Sean Hopwood scoring a goal either side of half time for Wellesbourne it was all square with ten minutes to go. Joshua Duffin became the Wellesbourne hero scoring the winner and taking Wanderers into the Cup Final.

On to The Tracey Thomas Challenge Cup 22-23 - Round 2

Khalsa Reserves 1 Cubbington FC 1
Ben Townsend was on target after five minutes to give Khalsa the lead. Jack Gibson made it all square on the stroke of half time. That’s how it stayed and so to penalty kicks.
Khalsa Reserves win 4 - 2 on penalties.

We move on to League action now and start with Division 2

Heathcote Athletic 3 AFC Warwick 0
Heathcote were two up by half time. John Aston and James Bye with the goals. James Proctor added another on the hour mark and took the points. Heathcote retain their position at the Top of the Table.

Princethorpe 2 Pig and Fiddle 1
The Pig drop points in their hunt for Honours and Princethorpe close the gap. Conor Smith with the Pig goal.

On to Division 3

Kineton Sports & Social Club 2 Real Barston 2
Graham Alan and Liam Naven-Jones on target for Kineton. Joseph Thompson and Matt Gillett with the Barston goals, Gillett getting the equaliser with six minutes left on the clock.

Napton 4 Cubbington Albion 8
Twelve goals and ten different scorers here! Chris Watts gave Napton the lead after only three minutes. Luca Cardellino levelled two minutes later. Dan Bates then put Cubbington in front two minutes later. Youssef Bassou then made it all square again only for Daniel Ricarte Lara to restore the Cubbington advantage. Chris Watts then made it all square again and we were only thirty minutes in! The second half saw Cubbington step on the gas and five goals in a fifteen minute spell had it all wrapped up. Billy Gatfield , Lawrence Peach, Ricarte Lara with his second, Freddie Finn and Alex Witchell doing the damage. Jack Hancock pulled one back with four minutes to go but it was too little too late.

We round up as usual with Division 4

Bowling Green 2 Foresters 2
Second fastest goal of the day here for Callum Whiting after only two minutes. Shay Browne added a second seven minutes later but Foresters grabbed two as well to make it all square at the full time whistle.

Long Itchington Reserves 2 Balsall and Berkswell 1
It was the late show here for the Long Men after Luke Shingler had given The Hornets the lead after twelve minutes. With only three minutes to go Adam Jones struck to make it all square and Daniel Jones crushed the Hornets two minutes later to take the points for the Long Men who remain in Top spot.

Wellesbourne Wanderers Reserves 2 Newbold 7
Strikes from James Sanderson and Charlie Southall-Webb in the first half were not enough here as Newbold dominated. Jordan Bedford led the way with a hat-trick and Reece Mason added a brace. Alex White and Liam Crutchley with the other goals.

Whitnash Sports & Social Club 4 HRI Harbury Res 0
Whitnash keep the pressure on at the Top of the Table with Paulo Mota grabbing a ten minute brace in the first half. Michael Aulak and Louis Todd with second half strikes to seal the points.
