All the results ang goals from this weekend.

Weekly round-up for Sunday 7 January 2024. Another weekend of fixtures lost due to the wet weather. We do have three games to report and we start with the only Cup match to survive.
The Tracey Thomas Challenge Cup 2023-24 - Round 2

Massey Ferguson Sports&Soc 2 Kenilworth Royal Oak 1

First game after the Christmas Break is tough and both teams took a while to settle on the huge pitch at the University of Warwick.

Mitch Statham was presented with the first real opening and should have buried his chance from 8 yards out after good play from Quinn King down the right. He found the keeper on that occasion but with chances few and far between in the first half he dispatched his second opportunity. A long throw was flicked on by Adam Buzzard. The lay off by Adam Mcnaney found Statham to lash home from close range.

Connor King then hit the post when he really should have scored with the goal gaping, and Danny Mccann blazed over the bar which could have put Masseys three ahead.

Just past the hour mark and Kenilworth Royal Oak scored on the counter with a shot that smashed in off the crossbar from Matthew Wood.

Masseys continued to attack and got their reward.
Danny Mccann was fouled 25 yards out when clear. The resulting free kick superbly found the bottom corner from Blake Arthur.

Royal Oak pushed for the equaliser but Masseys saw the game out from there.

Another scalp for the Tractor Boys who now face Wellesbourne in the Quarter Final.

We move on to League action now and we start with Division 1(A)

Bishops Itchington 3 Khalsa 3

Nip and tuck here and it was a thriller to the end. Frankie Episcopo gave Bishops the lead after fifteen minutes. Josh Mann made it all square fifteen minutes later.
The second half pickup up on the hour mark when Ajmeir Sahota scored to give Khalsa the advantage but within five minutes Bishops were back with a strike from Joe Squirrell. Five minutes after that and Edward Kostiuk scored to give the Bishops the lead again and it looked as though all three points were staying at home, until in the last minute of play Josh Mann popped up to grab his second and restore parity. A cracker to blow away the Christmas cobwebs!

We finish with the only other game played today and it came from
Division 3

Wellesbourne Wanderers 7 (seven) Bishops Itchington Res 1

Ben Adler enjoyed his return to League action and clearly didn’t have too many mince pies! He led the way with a hat-trick in a thirty five minute spell and the Wanderers dominated the second half. Alexander Rea gave Wanderers the lead just before half time. An own goal straight after the break doubled the lead before Adler grabbed his first two goals inside the next fifteen minutes. Rob Herdman pulled one back for Bishops just past the hour mark, but Wanderers picked up the pace. Joel Giblin, Adler with his hat trick and Joshua Duffin all added inside the last seven minutes to complete the scoring and give Wanderers all three points.
