Sunday 8th May and we start with the Cancer Research UK Charity Invitation Cup 2021-22 - Final

Bishops Itchington 1 Long Itchington 1

Another Cup Final and this is the big Charity Final started so long ago by Tracey Thomas. A fabulous day and a good crowd in attendance. A local derby with the Itchington sides, The Long Men and the Bishops who are both still on target for the League title. The Long men broke the deadlock when Sam Crawford latched on to a through ball and slotted home past the keeper. Bishops pressed but were held at bay by the Long Men, despite the pressure. The second half saw Bishops inject more urgency and it showed. The Long Men were pressed back for long periods and it seemed inevitable that Bishops would score. The cross whipped in from the left was met by the acrobatic Craig Watkin and his fine scissor kick flew into the net. Neither side could grab a winner and so it went to penalty kicks.
Rob Herdman the goal keeping hero as he saved two to give the Cup to Bishops.

We move on to League action now and start with Division 1

Leamington FC Vets 1 Heathcote Athletic 0

A close one here although the vet’s restored themselves after Wednesday evening. Ross Jackson with the only goal of the game coming on the half hour mark, crashing it home from close range.

We move on to Division 4

Wardens grateful for a point here. They were two down for a long period of the game after Jordan Evetts and Mark Hickey both scored. Dan Twigger pulled one back for Wardens but Hickey grabbed a second to restore the two goal advantage. With only eight minutes left on the clock up popped Ethan Price to make it interesting and two minutes into stoppage time Toby Wells found the equaliser.
