Weekly Round-up for Sunday 4 February 2024. We have a mixed bag this week and we start as usual with the Cup Competitions.

We start with the Division 3 Cup 2023-24, sponsored by Nick Chambers, in memory of his father Chris - Semi-Final

Napton 1 Cubbington FC 3

Jack Gibson with the fastest goal of the day to set Cubbington on their way into the Division three Cup Final. Luke Swinnerton added a second twenty minutes later, but Suroush Lisle-Pourzyaie grabbed one back for Napton before the break. Alister Wrist struck four minutes into the second half to restore the Cubbington two goal advantage and that’s how it stayed.
Cubbington FC go through to the Cup Final.

Cancer Research UK Charity Invitation Supplementary Cup 2023-24 - Round 1

Bowling Green 5 Southam Sporting 2

Keir Wood with the opener for Southam but there was little joy for the visitors after that. Tom Gamblin scored a brace with a goal either side of half time to give Bowling Green the advantage. It stayed that way until a flurry of goals in the last ten minutes. Lewis Adamo extended the advantage, but Harley Francis pulled one back for Southam within three minutes. The last minute saw Jason Thompson and Gamblin with his third, complete the scoring to take Bowling Green through to the next round.

H R I Harbury 0 Dynamo Leamington 1

A solitary strike from Lee Watton just past the half hour mark was enough to give Dynamo the victory and take them through to the next round.

We move on to the Andy Campbell Charity Invitation Cup 2023-24 - Round 1

Ettington Rovers 2 Heathcote Athletic 1

Kristoffer Burbury gave Heathcote the lead after only ten minutes here. However, the second half then belonged to Ettington, who were level only four minutes after the re-start, through Ashley Preece. Mark Withers popped up with thirteen minutes left on the clock and put Ettington ahead. It stayed that way and Ettington progress into the next round.

Stockton 6 Stockton Reserves 1

A predictable result but the reserves battled all the way. Josh Tolley with the opener after five minutes. The rest were shared around. George Edward Ayley added the second on the half hour mark, before Trystan Bending pulled one back just before the break. The second half saw Ben Osborne, Mitch Coleman, Charlie Bewick and Oscar Beetson all score to give Stockton the win and take them through to the next round.

On to the Cancer Research UK Charity Invitation Cup 2023-24 - Round 1
Long Itchington 2 AFC Snitterfield 1

A Harry Jones goal with five minutes to go was the consolation for Snitterfield here.

We move on to League action now and we start with Division 1(A)

Khalsa 1 Bourton and Frankton 0

A solitary strike with twenty minutes to go by Manjit Dhaliwal was all that could separate these two.

On to Division 3

Wellesbourne Wanderers 7 (seven) Newbold 0

Wanderers back in fine firm here and were four goals to the good by twenty minutes. Alexander Rea with the first after six minutes. Joshua Kilbride, Elliot Durbin and Benjamin Adler all getting in on the action. Rea got his second just after the hour mark. Then supersub Joel Giblin who came on at half time wrapped it all up with a brace in a blistering two minute spell.

Whitnash Town 9 (nine) Real Barston 0

All one way traffic here as Whitnash hit a purple patch. Sion Humphreys led the way grabbing four. Mark Hickey helped himself to a brace. Matthew Hughes, Paul Ward and Joshua Fitzgerald getting the others.

We finish as usual with Division 4

Pig & Fiddle 6 Wellesbourne Wanderers Reserves 2

Sam Perry was the star of the show here as he helped himself to five goals. Karl McGuire was the other scorer for Pig. Sam Seaborn had kept Wanderers in it early on before Perry turned the tables. Joshua Wasley pulled a second back late on but it was all over by then.

Sporting Foresters 1 Massey Ferguson Sports and Social 5

Foresters took the lead against the run of play with their first real attempt on goal, from a Ben Salliss finish, and then Masseys took over.
Connor King’s delightful cross to the back post was met by James Morgan and Masseys went in at half time 2-1 up after Blake Arthur placed the ball into the corner from 20 yards.
The domination was confirmed with a superb second half attacking display. Connor King made it a hat-trick of assists. First setting up his younger brother Quinn King and then Danny McCann before Blake Arthur got his brace late on with another finish to the bottom corner.
