Latest Weekly Round-up.

The only result from today!

The Weekly Round-up for Sunday 15 December 2019 and with the rain continuing to devastate fixtures we only have one game to report. That’s from Division 4 and involves Table Toppers the Coppers vs HRI Reserves who were mid-table.

HRI Wellesbourne Res 3 Warwickshire Police 0

It was a game of two halves with the Veg boys playing into the wind, rain and sun for the first half. The Cops were sharp and looked the brighter side early on but both teams were playing some neat football. HRI looked a threat on the break but stand-in keeper Wonfor did well to get down to a couple of efforts. The longer the half went on and the Veg lads settled. The Police still threatened especially down the right flank but clear chances were few and far between for both teams.

The second half was a bit one way. After only 5 minutes a mistake in the Police defence allowed Oliver Vaughan to poke a foot in and the low effort skimmed across the wet grass to nestle neatly into the bottom corner. Ten minutes later and Kevin Dineen-Atkins scored with a delightful finish from the left , curling his shot inside the far post leaving the giant Police keeper clawing the air. The Cops heads dropped and HRI piled on the pressure. It was no surprise when Greg Eales popped up at the far post to complete the scoring finishing off a neat move and cross from the right wing. The veg boys could’ve had 6 but chances went begging and Eales had a thumping 20 yarder crash off the crossbar.
An entertaining game which was well reffed by Mike Bingham who was then refereeing Aston Villa ladies in the afternoon.
The Cops drop to second in the Table, and HRI jump up to third.

The Christmas break is now upon us but a reminder that the Council of Clubs meeting is next Tuesday 17th December.

On behalf of the Management Committee I wish you all a happy, healthy and Peaceful Christmas and New Year
