As the recent run of fixtures took its toll and Whitnash tired, Rowley took full advantage finding space in the last third. Five minutes later he struck again to put Dynamo 3-2 ahead. It looked like that would be that, but Whitnash refused to give up and the match reached a dramatic climax as Travis Lea grabbed a late equalizer with a cruel deflection that left Dynamo's keeper stranded.
As the game went to penalties, Dynamo held their nerve, converting all five of their penalties. But, as with the semi-final, it was Dynamo's veteran keeper Roland Barnes who rolled back the years and was again the penalty hero as he saved from the spot to give Dynamo their first ever silverware!
