Weekly round-up for Sunday 12th May 2024. We have the midweek games to cover first and we start with Tuesday 7th May 2024

In the Andy Campbell Charity Invitation Cup 2023-24 Round 2 match between Leamington Hibernian and Long Itchington, The Long Men emerged victorious with a commanding 3-0 win. Pepe Fernandez, Andy McGuire, and Sam Crawford were the goal scorers that secured their advancement in the tournament.

We move on to League action and we start with Division 1(A)

Dynamo Leamington 0 Bishops Itchington 2

In the match between Dynamo Leamington and Bishops Itchington, Bishops emerged victorious with a 2-0 win. Craig Watkin scored in the 30th minute, giving Bishops an early lead. Callum Bell extended the lead with a goal in the 65th minute. Despite efforts from Dynamo Leamington, they were unable to find the back of the net, resulting in a defeat for them.

We move on to Division 1(B)

Cubbington Albion 1 Khalsa Reserves 0

In a closely contested league encounter between Cubbington Albion and Khalsa Reserves, Cubbington Albion secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory. The decisive moment came in the 70th minute when Freddie Finn found the back of the net, giving Cubbington Albion the lead. Despite efforts from Khalsa Reserves to equalize, Cubbington Albion's defence held firm.

We move on to Division 3

Long Itchington Reserves 0 Whitnash Town 3

In a league match between Long Itchington Reserves and Whitnash Town, Whitnash Town emerged victorious with a convincing 3-0 win. The scoring began in the 27th minute when Daniel Bates netted a goal for Whitnash Town, giving them an early lead. Just before halftime, Paul Ward extended their advantage with a goal in the 45th minute. In the 78th minute, Tom Outteridge sealed the victory for Whitnash Town with another goal, securing all three points for his team.

We finish with Division 4

Balsall & Berkswell 1 AFC Snitterfield 4

In this Division 4 clash between Balsall & Berkswell and AFC Snitterfield, AFC Snitterfield emerged victorious with a dominant 4-1 win. Snitterfield started strong, with Talib Bellamy opening the scoring in the 15th minute. Reece Mason extended their lead with two goals, scoring in the 25th and 40th minutes, respectively. Despite trailing by three goals, Balsall & Berkswell showed resilience and managed to pull one back in the 64th minute through Jack Reidy. However, Snitterfield remained in control and sealed the victory in stoppage time, with Harry Sherlock finding the net in the 90th minute.

Massey Ferguson Sports&Soc 7 (seven) Sporting Foresters 5

In an electrifying Division 4 encounter, Massey Ferguson Sports & Social emerged triumphant in a high-scoring thriller, defeating Sporting Foresters 7-5 in a rollercoaster of a match.
Massey Ferguson got off to a flying start as Jack Steel found the net early in the 8th minute, setting the tone for an action-packed game. However, Sporting Foresters responded swiftly, with Andrew Hood levelling the score in the 20th minute. The game continued to be a goal-fest as Massey Ferguson regained the lead through Danny McCann in the 43rd minute, only for Alex Stevens to equalize from the penalty spot in the 30th minute. Just before halftime, Massey Ferguson capitalized on an own goal, giving them a narrow 3-2 lead heading into the break.
The second half was no less dramatic, with both teams trading blows. Connor King extended Massey Ferguson's lead with a brace early in the second half, but Sporting Foresters refused to back down, with Ching Tai Tsz pulling one back in the 72nd minute. Massey Ferguson seemed to have sealed the victory with Cameron Henson's goal in the 57th minute and Danny McCann's second of the game in the 82nd minute. However, Sporting Foresters staged a late rally, with Ben Salliss scoring twice in the 81st and 85th minutes to set up a tense finale.
In the end, Massey Ferguson held on to secure a thrilling 7-5 victory, showcasing their attacking prowess and resilience in a match filled with goals and drama.

Southam Sporting 3 Kineton Sports and Social 4

In a closely contested match between Southam Sporting and Kineton Sports and Social, Kineton emerged victorious with a narrow 4-3 win in an exhilarating encounter.
The game started with a flurry of action as Eric Stanley found the net for Southam Sporting in the 12th minute, giving them an early lead. However, Kineton responded swiftly, with Zachary Pugh equalizing to level the score. The first half ended with both teams deadlocked at 1-1.
In the second half, the intensity continued to rise as Jacob Dickens put Southam Sporting back in the lead with a goal in the 70th minute. However, Kineton once again fought back, with Liam Naven Jones scoring twice to give them a 3-2 advantage. With tensions running high, Finn Brown managed to level the score for Southam Sporting in the 83rd minute, setting up a thrilling finale.
In the dying moments of the game, Kineton seized the opportunity to clinch victory, with Will Barnes scoring the decisive goal to secure a hard-fought 4-3 win for his team.

We move on to Thursday 9 May 2024

We start with Division 1(B)

In a highly anticipated Division 1 B clash, Cubbington Albion secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Long Itchington in a closely contested encounter.
Cubbington Albion got off to a strong start, with Tommy Clarke converting a penalty in the 15th minute to give his team the early lead. Long Itchington responded with determination, but it was Cubbington Albion who extended their advantage, with Josh Bailey finding the back of the net in the 33rd minute.
Trailing by two goals, Long Itchington rallied in the second half, pressing forward in search of a comeback. Their efforts paid off when Jamie Draper pulled one back for his team, setting up a tense finale.
Despite Long Itchington's late surge, Cubbington Albion's defense held firm, denying any further goals and securing a vital 2-1 victory.

We move on to Division 3

Real Barston 1 HRI Harbury 4

In a Division 3 clash between Real Barston and HRI Harbury, The Veg boys emerged victorious with a commanding 4-1 win. The game started with both teams vying for control, but it was HRI Harbury who struck first, with Brett Ellard finding the back of the net in the 28th minute to give his team the lead. Real Barston responded swiftly, with Benjamin Valatka leveling the score just two minutes later.
As the game progressed, HRI Harbury seized control, with Kieran Walsh breaking the deadlock in the 70th minute to put his team back in front. Just two minutes later, Brett Ellard added to HRI Harbury's lead with his second goal of the match, putting them in a commanding position.
Despite Real Barston's efforts to mount a comeback, HRI Harbury's defense remained resolute, denying any further goals. In the dying moments of the game, Sam Pye sealed the victory for HRI Harbury with a goal in the 89th minute, securing a comprehensive 4-1 win for his team.

Whitnash Town 0 Kenilworth Royal Oak 6

The game started with both teams showing determination, but it was Royal Oak who took the lead in the 26th minute when William Harte converted a penalty, giving his team an early advantage. Whitnash struggled to find a response, and their woes continued as James McCarthy doubled Royal Oak's lead with a goal in the 42nd minute.
In the second half, Kenilworth Royal Oak continued to assert their dominance, with Joshua Cox and Harry Craven adding to their tally with goals in the 56th and 58th minutes, respectively. Town found themselves overwhelmed by their opponents' relentless attacks, and their defence was breached once again when Elliot Wong scored in the 67th minute. The onslaught didn't stop there, as Jon Forsyth found the net in the 71st minute to seal Kenilworth Royal Oak's commanding 6-0 victory.

We move on to Division 4

A F C Snitterfield 2 Sporting Foresters 1

Both teams displaying solid defence, resulting in a goalless scoreline at halftime. However, the second half saw an increase in intensity as Harry Jones broke the deadlock for AFC Snitterfield in the 65th minute.
Sporting Foresters fought hard to find an equalizer but were unable to breach AFC Snitterfield's defense. Instead, AFC Snitterfield extended their lead late in the game when Dan Holt found the back of the net in the 85th minute.
Sporting Foresters managed to pull one goal back through Ben Salliss, but it wasn't enough to salvage a result as AFC Snitterfield held on to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

Southam Sporting 7(seven) Balsall and Berkswell 1

The match began with an explosive start as Eric Stanley opened the scoring for Southam. Stanley wasted no time in doubling his tally. Luke Hurst then got in on the action with two quick-fire goals of his own, putting Southam Sporting firmly in control.
The onslaught continued in the second half, with Joshua Thomas and Dan Luke adding to the scoreline with two more goals each, showcasing Southam Sporting's attacking prowess.
Despite a consolation goal from Balsall and Berkswell, Southam Sporting maintained their dominance throughout the match, ultimately securing a resounding 7-1 victory.

We move on to Sunday 12 May 2024 and we start with a Cup Final.
Division 1 Supplementary Cup 2023-24, sponsored by friends of Rowan Fitzgerald – Final

A minute’s applause was held before this Cup final to remember Mike Pailes who was involved in local football for many years, who passed away on Thursday. Mike had played in the league and had been the groundsman at Long Itchington for many years.

Long Itchington 1 Leamington Hibernian 2

Connol Farrell opened the scoring after thirty minutes to put Hib’s ahead here firing into the bottom corner. Two minutes later and the Long Men were level from a quick Andy Maguire freekick. It remained tight and despite chances at both ends it remained at stalemate, With eighteen minutes left a through ball saw Josh Tiff bring the ball down and avoid his marker and calmly slot home from twelve yards. Hib’s kept it tight and ran down the clock and win the Cup. A big performance after losing to the Long Men in the week in the Andy Campbell Cup.

Chadwick End 2 Khalsa Reserves 2

In an exhilarating Cup match between Chadwick End and Khalsa Reserves, both teams battled fiercely to a thrilling 2-2 draw after regular time. Chadwick End took the lead early in the match as Adam Priestly found the back of the net in the 20th minute. However, Khalsa Reserves quickly responded with an equalizer from Alex Marsh in the 35th minute, levelling the score before halftime. The second half saw Chadwick End reclaim the lead as Adam Priestly scored his second goal of the match on the hour mark. Yet again, Khalsa Reserves fought back, with Alex Marsh netting his second goal with three minutes of time left to play. And so to penalties. Khalsa Reserves held their nerve, emerging victorious with a 4-3 win on penalties, and progress into the next round.

We move on to League action and we start with Division 1(A)

Bishops Itchington 6 Kenilworth Wardens 0

Bishops Itchington dominated Kenilworth Wardens with a stunning 6-0 victory. The scoring was opened by Callum Bell at the 35-minute mark, followed by goals from Shaun Watkins, Thomas O'Callaghan, and two from Martin Hutchcox. Charlie Mills wrapped up the victory with a final goal at the 85th minute

Khalsa 3 Leam Hib’s Res 4

The game started with both teams showing determination, but it was Leam Hib's Reserves who took the lead as Connor Mort found the net in the 15th minute. Despite Khalsa's efforts to respond, Leam Hib's Reserves extended their lead with a goal from Scott Hammond in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Khalsa mounted a comeback, with Rory Kirwan converting a penalty in the 55th minute to pull one back for his team. However, Leam Hib's Reserves responded swiftly, with Connor Mort scoring his second goal of the match in the 67th minute to maintain their lead.
Khalsa continued to push forward, and their efforts paid off when Josh Mann found the back of the net in the 70th minute, narrowing the deficit. The match remained evenly poised until Charlie Fitzmaurice scored a crucial goal for Leam Hib's Reserves in the 82nd minute, restoring their two-goal lead.
Despite a late goal from Rory Kirwan for Khalsa in the 86th minute, Leam Hib's Reserves held on to secure a hard-fought 4-3 victory.

We move on to Division 3

H R I Harbury 4 Newbold 1

HRI Harbury got off to a strong start, with Kieran Walsh opening the scoring in the 9th minute, setting the tone for the game. They continued to press forward, and their efforts paid off as Vitor Machado doubled their lead in the 26th minute.
Newbold looked to mount a comeback in the second half, with Jordan Bedford pulling one back for his team in the 50th minute. However, HRI Harbury quickly reasserted their dominance, with Kieran Walsh scoring his second goal of the match just three minutes later.
The veg boys extended their lead further when Luke Sangha found the net in the 56th minute, putting the game out of reach for Newbold.
Despite Newbold's efforts to find a response, they were unable to break through HRI Harbury's defense, resulting in a comprehensive 4-1 victory for HRI Harbury.

Kenilworth Royal Oak 2 Cubbington FC 2

Kenilworth Royal Oak took the lead in the 31st minute as William Harte found the back of the net, putting his team in front. However, Cubbington FC responded swiftly with a goal from George Wilkinson in the 20th minute, levelling the score.
The game remained tightly contested throughout the second half, with both teams creating chances but struggling to find the breakthrough. It wasn't until the 75th minute that Alister Wrist put Cubbington FC ahead with a well-taken goal.
However, Kenilworth Royal Oak fought back resiliently, with Jeremy Simmons scoring a late equalizer in the 86th minute, salvaging a point for his team.
Despite both sides pushing for a winner in the dying moments of the game, the score remained 2-2 until the final whistle, with neither team able to secure victory.

Newbold 2 HRI Harbury 2

Newbold took the lead in the 25th minute as Connor Parry found the back of the net, giving his team an early advantage. However, HRI Harbury responded swiftly with a goal from Tom Jones in the 20th minute, levelling the score before halftime.
In the second half, Newbold regained the lead as Jordan Bedford scored in the 57th minute, putting his team in front once again. Yet again, The veg boys showed their resilience, with Kieran Walsh equalizing just three minutes later in the 48th minute.

We move on to Division 4

A F C Snitterfield 0 Massey Ferguson Sports & Soc 3

Massey Ferguson wasted no time asserting their dominance as Jack Morgan opened the scoring in the 6th minute, giving his team an early lead. The relentless pressure from Massey Ferguson continued, with Morgan adding to his tally with another goal in the 32nd minute, extending his team's advantage.
Despite AFC Snitterfield's efforts to mount a comeback, Massey Ferguson's defence remained resolute, denying any chances for their opponents to score. In the second half, Massey Ferguson sealed the victory with Blake Arthur finding the net in the 65th minute, putting the result beyond doubt.
Massey’s are almost over the line as Champions but with two games to go they could technically still be caught. The Tractor boys play host to Bowling Green this coming Thursday which is a crucial top of the table clash. Bowling Green must win to continue any hope of the Championship, but a Massey’s win will see the title home for the Tractor boys in an impressive first season .

Kineton Sport & Social 3 Pig and Fiddle 3

The game kicked off with high intensity, and Pig and Fiddle took the lead through Kieran Morgan's goal in the 20th minute. However, their lead was short-lived as Scott Dunn equalized for Kineton in the 21st minute. Kineton then found themselves ahead when Liam Naven Jones scored in the 31st minute.
The back-and-forth action continued into the second half. Sam Perry brought Pig and Fiddle level again with a goal in the 42nd minute, setting up a tense remainder of the match. As the game neared its conclusion, James Campion thought he had secured the win for Kineton with a late goal in the 87th minute. But Pig and Fiddle had one last twist in store; Calum Gellender scored in the dying moments, in the 90th minute, to ensure the points were shared.

Sporting Foresters 4 Southam Sporting 0

Stockton Reserves 1 Bowling Green 7 (seven)

The onslaught began early, with Jason Thompson opening the scoring with the fastest goal of the day in just the 5th minute, and he quickly added another goal eight minutes later. Benjamin Wilson expanded the lead to 3-0 with his goal in the 24th minute, and Thompson completed his hat-trick by the 30th minute, putting Bowling Green in a commanding 4-0 position by halftime.
After the break, Jake Robbins continued the scoring spree, adding a fifth for Bowling Green in the 47th minute. Noah Whitlock then took over, netting his first goal in the 60th minute and his second in the 86th minute, further extending the margin.
Stockton Reserves managed a consolation goal through Adam Thomas in the 70th minute, but it did little to change the outcome of a game that was thoroughly dominated by Bowling Green from start to finish.
