Weekly round up for Sunday 23 October 2022. With the torrential rain overnight we lost lots of games through waterlogged pitches. We still managed a few and as usual we start with the Cup games.

George Dutton Charity Invitation Cup 22-23 - Preliminary Round
Heathcote Athletic 2 Hampton Magna 2

All the action coming in the second half here and it was a very late flourish. Adam Edwards put Magna in front just after the break. With just over ten minutes to go Karol Janisiak made it all square. Then with two minutes left on the clock James Proctor looked to have won the tie for Heathcote. Magna bounced straight back from the kick off and Ashley Dutton made it all square again within a minute! So to penalty kicks and Heathcote Athletic win 4 - 3 on penalties.

We move on to the Division 4 Cup 22-23, sponsored by Spa Trophies - Round 1

Foresters 4 Whitnash Sports & Social Club 4

A close battle here and it remained all square after ninety minutes. Whitnash were ahead after only four minutes curtesy of an own goal. Matty Goodwin added a second after ten minutes, Sheldon Wainwright made it three just on the half hour mark and Goodwin got his second just before the break. Foresters replied with four of their own and so to penalty kicks.
Whitnash Sports & Social Club win 2 - 3 on penalties and go into the next round.

We move on to the Cancer Research UK Charity Invitation Cup 22-23 - Preliminary Round

Leamington Hibernian 4 Newbold 2

Jordan Bedford with the fastest goal of the day here in the first minute to give Newbold the lead. Bedford grabbed a second late on but it was all done by then as Hibs had scored four in the first half. Jack Marsden with a brace in four minutes. Craig Wallsgrove and Tom Hitchcox with the others. Hibs into the next round.

Napton 1 Bishops Itchington 4

A local derby here and the Bishops came out on top. Chris Watts with the Napton consolation but it wasn’t enough. Johnny Adair had given Bishops the lead after ten minutes and Josh Turton added a second before the half hour mark. Luke Cole added a third shortly after the break and Michael Clough finished it off with twenty minutes to go. Bishops into the next round.

We move on to League action now and start with Division 2

Whitnash Town AFC 0 Pig and Fiddle 5

The Pig were too strong here for Whiotnash and a Conor Smith hat trick and a brace from Liam Blake were enough to take the points.

We finish as usual with Division 4

AFC Snitterfield 3 Bowling Green 3

A thriller here and it was goal less at half time! The halftime team talks clearly had an effect. Ten minutes into the second half and the Bowling Green took a two goal lead through Callum Stewart and Benjamin Wilson. Ten minutes later and Snitterfield were level through Harry Jones and Thierry Richards. With ten minutes to go Stewart got his second to give Bowling Green the lead but with a last minute finish Reese Sangha popped up to restore parity and it ended all square.
