Weekly Round-up 7

All the results and goals from this weekend.

Weekly Round-up for Sunday 17 October 2021. It’s week seven and we have a mixed bag of League and Cup results for you this week. The League Tables are also showing some shape now. We start as usual with the Cup results and that means the Division 1 Cup 2021-22, sponsored by Anthony Eden Gents Hairdresser - Round 1

Leamington Hibernian 1 HRI Wellesbourne 1
A close game here and two first half goals kept the game balanced through to the end. Jack Marsden with the Hibs strike midway through the first half, with the Veg boys equaliser coming from Craig Setchell just before half time. So it went to penalty kicks. And that was also very close!
Leamington Hibernian win 5 - 4 on penalties and go into the next round.

We move on to the Division 2 Cup 2021-22, sponsored by friends of Rowan Fitzgerald - Round 1

Dynamo Leamington 2 Princethorpe 6
Princethorpe had too much here for Dynamo and despite Dynamo grabbing two first half goals in a three minute spell it was nowhere near enough. Callum Carsley led the way with a hat-trick. Conor Warbutton with a brace and Ed Spencer wrapping up the Princethorpe goals. Ashley Rowley and Ryan Woodward with the Dynamo strikes. Princethorpe go into the next round.

Real Barston 0 Chadwick End 3
Chadwick into the next round gently easing past Barston. Mark Turner, James Brady and Henry Eddy on target for Chadwick.

Our Final Cup game is the Division 4 Cup 2021-22, sponsored by Spa Trophies - Round 1

Sporting Club de Stratford 2 Bulldog 4
Terrier Mark Hickey with a hat-trick led the way here as Bulldog came from a two nil deficit to take the tie. Harry Butler and Jack Reidy had put Sporting ahead in an amazing two minute spell! Bulldog bit back in an even more amazing eight minute spell with three strikes. A brace from Hickey and one from Taylor Forrest. Hickey sealed the deal in the 77th minute with his third. Bulldog go into the hat for the next round.

And so we move on to League action. We start as usual with Division 1

Khalsa 3 Heathcote Athletic 0
Heathcote remain at the foot of the Table and Khalsa grab three vital points. Chris Hanrahan, Ian Pollock and Luke Lindsay the Khalsa marksmen.

Leamington FC Vets 4 Bishops Itchington 1
The Vet’s are flying high at the top of the Table and the scoreline might flatter them against a good Bishops side, but the goals for column continues to rise. An Andy Maguire brace , supported by strikes from Marton Thompson and James Keller were enough to see off Bishops, who had a Ciaran Houston strike mid way through the first half as consolation.

Long Itchington 1 Blackdown 0
A top of the Table clash here as the second placed Longmen hosted third place Blackdown. The home side came out on top but it took a solitary Bradley Allbone goal on the half hour mark to do it. The Longmen close the gap at the top.

We move on to Division 2

AFC Warwick 5 Khalsa Reserves 2
Melvinino Mauritson went home happy after his display today. He smashed home four to help AFC take the points. George Ferridge on hand for the other AFC goal. Taran Basi and a late Charlie Watts penalty the only consolations for Khalsa.

Ettington Rovers 2 Engine FC 4
The Engine are now running on all cylinders and lead the Table. The points were safe here as strikes from Rhys Tumney, Jarred Lane, Jordan Simpson and Joshua McMartin fired them clear . Ettington had two first half goals from Oliver Stephens and a Kyle Nicholls penalty but it wasn’t enough.


And on to Division 3

Hampton Magna 4 Sporting Foresters 1
Magna flowing well now and picked up all three points here from Foresters. Mathew Compton led the way with a brace. Nick Hill and Ashley Turnbull with the other goals. The solitary Foresters strike coming from Taran Baghria.


Harbury 3 Cubbington FC 3

A late burner this one as Christian Barrett gave Cubbington an early lead. Harbury started brightly in the second half and took the lead through Max Hubbard and Kyle Fletcher. Cubbington then fought back with a brace of goals from Luke Swinnerton and the points were on their way back to Cubbington. With the time almost up Harbury are awarded a Penalty and cool Kyle Fletcher slots home the spot kick for a share of the points.


Napton 3 Leamington Hibs Reserves 4

Hibs took the lead through James Hancocks. Chris Watts then levelled for Napton only for Daniel Wilkinson to go back up the other end and restore the Hibs lead.
Sayanthan Ravindrakumar restored parity for Napton shortly after only for Scott Hammond to strike again for Hibs. The second half was a close affair and it took Hammond to break the deadlock to extend the Hibs advantage only for Will Bradbury to go straight up the other end and score for Napton. An interesting last ten minutes but Hibs held on to maintain their 100% record

And finally to Division 4

Cubbington Albion 6 Long Itchington Reserves 1
Equal fastest goal of the day here and it came on ten minutes via Max Gough. Ross Quartermaine then led from the front with a hat-trick. Dan Bates with what’s described as an average finish and Billy Gatfield getting the other Cubbington strikes. Joe Rose with the late Longmen consolation. Cubbington stay top of the tree.


HRI Wellesbourne Reserves 3 Kenilworth Wardens 3

High flying Wardens dropped two precious points here and the Veg boys will be kicking themselves as they let all three points escape. Luke Sangha, an own goal and Jordan White had given HRI a three nil first half lead. Wardens didn’t give up and within thirteen minutes of the re-start had pulled two back through a James Carro brace. It then became a tense battle and the Veg boys clung on, but it wasn’t to be and with twenty minutes left George Walker popped up to make it all square again. That’s how it finished.


Wellesbourne Wanderers 4 Upper Lighthorne 1

A new village derby here and this one went to the Wellesbourne youngsters. Aaron Mobley, Henry Ford , Jack Walton and Will Savage doing the damage before a late George Green consolation for Lighthorne.

Whitnash Sports & Social Club 1 Stockton 5
One way traffic here but Stockton were made to work for it. Equal fastest goal of the day coming from Ryan Barnard to put Stockton on their way, but the second didn’t come until a 40th minute strike from John Ahearne. Will Wall made it three just before the break. Sam Rose extended the lead straight from the re-start and seven minutes later Barnard grabbed his second. Louis Todd with the late Whitnash consolation.
