Latest Weekly Round up

By Mark Rowlatt

All the games and goals from this weekend. It's week 16 and we had some hot dog action!

Weekly round-up for Sunday 19 December 2021. It’s week 16 and we have the last few fixtures before the Christmas break and we start with Division 4

Long Itchington Reserves 2 Kenilworth Wardens 4
We start with the two fastest goals of the day and they both come from Ben Edmunds who grabbed his first in five minutes then helped himself to another three minutes later. Within another seven minutes and Wardens were in control with two more goals from Harry Morris and James Carro. The Long men rallied and pulled back two goals before half time through Pepe Fernandez and Liam Murphy but Wardens held firm and with no goals coming in the second half , they close the gap at the Top of the Table.

Upper Lighthorne 1 Southam Sporting 2

Two first half goals were enough for Southam here as Jack Mitchell and Jack Mason struck. Lee Gold with the late Lighthorne reply but it was not enough. Three great points for Southam who are gaining momentum.

Wellesbourne Wanderers 1 Sporting Club de Stratford 2

A goal in each half here was enough for Sporting to take the points back home to Stratford from near neighbours Wellesbourne. William Heward with the first half goal on the half hour mark, followed by a John Vickery penalty just after the break. Jack Walton pulled one back for Wellesbourne from the spot with eight minutes to go but too little too late . A great result for Sporting and dropped points at the Top end of the Table for Wellesbourne. The game was interrupted twice for pitch invasions when on twelve minutes a Chihuahua dressed in a Christmas costume raced onto the pitch, then on fifty five minutes a Labrador decided to try and help Stratford score another, but unfortunately he wasn’t signed on and was removed from the pitch.

The League Management and Committee wish you all a Happy and Healthy Christmas and New Year . We resume fixtures on Sunday 9th January 2022, pending any announcements regarding the COVID situation.
