Weekly round-up for Sunday 5 November 2023. The rain had a significant impact on fixtures this week but we still have some game to report.
We start with the Cup matches and that’s the Division 1 Cup 2023-24, sponsored by Anthony Eden Gents Hairdresser - Round 1
Bishops Itchington 3 Bourton and Frankton FC 2
Two first half goals from Elliott Powell and Edward Kostiuk gave Bishops the advantage at the break. Just after the re-start and Josh Turton scored a third for Bishops but Callum Carsley pulled one back for Bourton. Carsley struck again for his second with fifteen minutes to go but Bishops held on for the win.
Bishops progress into the next round.
George Dutton Charity Invitation Cup 2023-24 - Round 1
Khalsa Reserves 1 Bishops Itchington Reserves 3
Luke Warby struck just before the half hour mark to put Khalsa in front. Ryan Fox made it all square just before the break. Johnny Adair had the visitors in front just past the hour mark and Aran Guner rounded it off with just under ten minutes to go.
Bishops Reserves go into the next round.
We move on to League action now and start with Division 1(B)
Heathcote Athletic 1 Leamington Hib’s 6
Owen Davies with the first half consolation here for Heathcote, but it was too little, too late. Conor Smith did most of the damage bagging four goals, his first on eight minutes was fastest goal of the day. Jack Marsden and Josh Tiff getting the others.
We move on to Division 3
H C Raiders 0 Whitnash Town 3
Daniel Bates and Sion Humphreys with first half strikes set Whitnash on their way. Connor Wilson added a third on the hour and it was all over
Real Barston 6 Newbold 1
Charles Pickering had helped himself to a brace inside the first fifteen minutes here. Daniel Masters pulled one back before the break to keep Newbold in it. The second half then turned on the hour mark and Barston took control Oscar Woodrow also scored a brace. Benjamin Valatka and Aaron Cordice also added to take the points for Barston.
Division 4
Pig & Fiddle 6 Stockton Reserves 2
The Pig were three up by half time . Calum Gellender notching a brace and James Bramwell also scoring. Kylo Allen added a fourth just after the re-start. Sam Church pulled one back on the hour for Stockton, and Alex Boulden then struck a second to start the Stockton revival, but it wasn’t to be. Calum Gellender scored another and Thomas Halbert then made it six for the Pig with two minutes to go.
Wellesbourne Wanderers Reserves 0 Bowling Green 3
No reply for Wellesbourne here as Tom Gamblin, Callum Stout and Callum Bailey all scored to give Bowling Green all three points.
