All Fixtures suspended

By Mark Rowlatt

COVID restrictions STOP PLAY.

Following the announcement from Government and then the subsequent guidelines from the FA and BCFA the Committee of the Tracey Thomas Leamington and District Sunday Football League have made the decision to suspend all remaining fixtures in 2020. We will be looking to resume in the New Year.

The travel restrictions placed on players and teams was going to play a significant part in reducing the number of fixtures playable and with some teams not being able to field a side this was going to impact on many games.

We understand the frustration this may cause to some people, however the health and welfare of all concerned remains a priority and missing a game of football has to be taken into context. This decision is also inline with other Leagues who have similar issues.

We also understand that some teams will continue to play and train and we urge those teams to continue to maintain the COVID guidelines and follow their clubs Risk Assessment. Your Club COVID Officer may need to update your Risk Assessment to ensure that you fall in line with the guidelines. Please also check with your club insurance that they will cover you.
For those clubs running training sessions the guidelines now stipulate that you must do so with safe distancing and minimal contact.

We hope to resume fixtures in the New Year however that will be governed by any new restrictions in place and further guidance from the FA.

The committee wish you all a Happy and Healthy Christmas and New Year. We hope to see you all out on the pitch next year!

The guidance is quite clear in the respect of travelling after the BCFA made clear what the DCMS HAVE ISSUED.

Travel

Adults can travel to play grassroots football in between Tier 1 and Tier 2. However, adults cannot travel in and out of Tier 3 to play grassroots football. There are exemptions for travel in and out of Tier 3 for U18s, disability teams, volunteers, elite players and for those travelling for work.
