COVID 19 Ends 2019-2020 Season

By Mark Rowlatt

The Management Committee decision to end this Season early.

COVID 19 STATEMENT.

The Tracey Thomas Leamington and District Sunday Football League would like to make the following statement:-

In line with all the guidance from NHS England, the FA , the BCFA and Warwick District Council, as from today (Sunday 22nd March 2020) the Season 2019 to 2020 has ended and we will not fulfill our season as far as League and Cup matches are concerned. No further games will be played and NO Championships will be decided OR Cup Finals played. This includes the Cancer Cup and the Referees Association Cup Competitions. This decision is Final.
Whilst Football is a vital and integral part of our life and society, we are and always will be subservient to the care and welfare of the community as a whole, and it would be irresponsible to think or do otherwise.
I say to those teams who feel that we should continue and play out the remainder of the season, that we need to be realistic in these extreme circumstances and stand up for those members of society that need the care and support that we may be able to offer instead of contemplating our next 90 minutes on a football pitch. We should “Do the right thing”, and if your club is in a position to help the local community then what a tremendous community spirit that might bring.
We would ask that all clubs who wish to apply to continue in the Tracey Thomas Leamington and District Sunday Football League fror Season 20-21 please notify Steve Falp (Hon Sec) by return asap to assist us in preparing for next Season, which we hope will run from September as normal as long as the COVID19 outbreak is under control.
The Committee will continue to hold meetings and we will endeavour to hold an AGM and rest assured we are fighting to keep the League alive and well ready for next Season.

Following the Prime Minister's statement to the Country last night (23.3.2020) it is clear that this is the correct decision.

The Following statement is from the FA. (This was from last Monday)
"Following the Government’s announcement today, for people to avoid social contact and gatherings where possible, we are now advising that all grassroots football in England is postponed for the foreseeable future.

The following statement was from WDC .
Grass Football pitches at Newbold Comyn, Harbury Lane, Castle Farm, St Nicholas Park, and St Marys Lands have now been closed for the rest of the season and should not be used as annual maintenance will start shortly in order to ensure the pitches are in the best possible condition for next season.
