Easter Weekend Round-up

As is customary, there were no fixtures scheduled over the Easter weekend, so the only action to report this week is from just one mid-week game.

Wednesday evening's Division Four clash between Kenilworth Wardens and HRI Wellesbourne Reserves was very much the proverbial "game of two halves".

HRI got off to a great early start when some sharp closing down gave Tom Jones the chance to put HRI ahead within the first five minutes. HRI doubled their lead shortly before half-time, when Rob Dent deftly finished from close-range* from a Dale Francis corner.

However, Wardens were clearly galvanized by their half-time talk, and were a much stronger team in the second-half. Toby Wells grabbed his first within ten minutes of the restart, and then equalized with his second ten minutes later. By this point, Wardens were very much on top of a tiring HRI side, and it was really only a matter of time before Wells grabbed his third to seal the victory and keep Wardens in the fight for promotion in their first season in the League.

Wardens now take this result into their Division Cup Final against Bulldog this Sunday (24th), which will be played at Kenilworth Sporting Ground, Gypsy Lane (3pm KO).

As we reach the closing stages of the season, we're now into mid-week fixtures, with several mid-week games scheduled throughout the rest of April and into May.

All fixtures for the remainder of the season should now be published (with one exception), so please get in contact with the League Fixture Secretary if you think your team has any outstanding games that have not yet been scheduled.
