ALL THE GOALS AND ACTION FROM THIS WEEKS GAMES

Weekly Round-up for Sunday 10 February 2019. We start as usual with the Cup Competitions and that means:
The Tracey Thomas Challenge Cup 2018-19 - Round 4. Our Match of the day with Top of Division 2 Kineton visiting Newbold Comyn to take on Leam Hibs from Division 1.
Leamington Hibernians 2 Kineton Sports and Social Club 4 .

Hibs started poorly and Kineton took advantage with the early breakthrough. 0 – 1. Despite attempts Hibs couldn’t grasp the game and shortly before half time Kineton grabbed a second, following a Hibs attack which broke down, Kineton broke down the left and the smart cross found a free man at the back post who evaded the first challenge and rifled home. Half time 0 – 2.
Hibs were forced to attack now, and again got caught on the break. Another smart finish and it was 0 – 3. With 20 minutes to go Hibs began to look more threatening and Carl Smedley popped up to give the Division 1 side hope. Unfortunately the ball went straight down the other end where the keeper brought down the striker for a penalty. Callum Graham stepped up to rifle home. 1 – 3.
Ten minutes left and up stepped Josh Blake to pull Hibs back with a close range finish, but it wasn’t enough. A spicy Cup tie which had some handbags at the end, but the Division 2 side deserved the win and progress into the next round. Kineton’s other scorers were a James Keller brace and Joshua Wyatt.
Final score Leamington Hibs 2 Kineton Sports and Social 4

Cancer Research UK Charity Invitation Supplementary Cup 2018-19 - Round 2

Hampton Magna 1 Stockton 1
Another Cup upset here as Division 3 Magna hosted Division 4 Stockton. The home side drew first blood on 10 minutes through Ash Turnbull. Alex Boulden had levelled for Stockton before half time and that’s the way it stayed. With no goals in the second half so it was to penalty kicks. Stockton held their nerve and took the tie winning 5 - 6 on penalties.

Leamington Referees' Association George Dutton Challenge Cup 2018-19 - Round 2
HRI Wellesbourne 2 Radford Semele 2

And this one went to the lower Division side as well! Division 2 HRI at home to Radford Semele from Division 1. The visitors had taken a two goal advantage by 33 minutes through strikes by Paul Wilkinson and Jack Sidgwick . Three minutes later the Veg boys woke up and up stepped George Crawford to score, shortly followed by Guy Allen. Yet again that was all the goals out of the way before half time and with no goals in the second half it was off to the penalties again. Again the Division 2 side held their nerve and went through winning 5 - 4 on penalties.

We move on to League action now and with several fixtures off due to the heavy overnight rain we start in Division 3.

Bishops Tachbrook FC 2 Liberal Club C 2
Tachbrook were caught napping here and drop points in the race for the Title. They took the lead on 36 minutes through Dean Pugh, but the Liberals hit back with a Matty Bemrose brace to stun the home side. An Adam Knight strike on 77 minutes rescued a point and saved Tachbrook from their first League defeat of the Season. Liberals are now in 4th spot closing in on Chadwick End.

We move on to Division 4

Leamington Hibernians Reserves 1 Whitnash United 1
Another tight one here as Hibs are held to a draw and the Title starts to swing towards Blackdown. Rhys Bufton had put Whitnash ahead, but a Luke Marriott penalty got the Hibs level. It stayed tight to the end.

Warwick Boar 4 HRI Wellesbourne Reserves 1 Another turn around here as the Veg boys scored first through Shamir Entezar on 25 minutes. It stayed that way until the second half when the Boar charged. Strikes from Jordan David three minutes into the second half, Michael Byrne , Jordan David with his second and Macauley Easterlow took the points back to Warwick.
