Maurice Billington Thriller

By Mark Rowlatt

The Maurice Billington Cup Final has a thrilling twist.

Chadwick End and AFC Warwick battled it out last night at Racing Club Warwick for the Maurice Billington Cup. A minutes silence was held before the game for Tracey Thomas.
AFC were the brighter side from the off and took the lead only for Chadwick to equalise just before half time with a swift breakaway goal.
AFC again scored early in the second half but Chadwick again bounced back to equalise. With less than ten minutes to go AFC looked to have clinched the victory only for Chadwick to equalise yet again following good work down the left wing, the cut back then rifled home.
So to penalties and tied at 4-4 after the first five, sudden death tipped into Chadwicks favour. The huge Chadwick goalie dived well down to his right to save, and Chadwicks final penalty flew into the net. A thrilling end.
The game was well reffed by Erik van Vleet , able assisted by Luke Scale and Ian Sewell. The Trophy was presented by Keith Billington .
