Weekly report

By Mark Rowlatt

A catch up of the last 2 weeks

We are playing catch-up with some results today as I was not available to complete a report last week. We start with the Earlier mid-week results and that means Tuesday 14th May 2019 From Division 4

Stockton United 2 Leamington Hibs Reserves 7
Hibs closing in on third spot were always in command here. Dan Wilkinson set them off to a great start after only 5 minutes. Within 13 minutes it was 3 nil as Craig Wallsgrove and Dalveer Varaich got onto the score sheet. Will Wall pounced to pull one back for the home side, but Wallsgrave and Connor Carson struck again before half time to make it 1 – 5 at the break. Wallsgrave bagged his hat-trick just after the break, swiftly followed by Wall getting his second. But it was too little and too late as Alex Mitchell slotted home 5 minutes later to finish the scoring.

The following night Wednesday 15 May 2019 and we move to Division 2
Ettington Rovers 3 Long Itchington 0

Ettington and the Long Men are both mid table scrappers here , but it was the Ettington lads who came out on top in this one. Jordan Robinson and Matthew Toms were both on target late in the first half, and then a late Glen Matthew penalty wrapped things up.

We move on to Sunday 19th May 2019 and we start with the Division 2 Title Thriller!
HRI Wellesbourne 0 Kineton Sports and Social Club 0

With the goal scoring talent between these two sides no-one could’ve predicted this result. With a nil nil draw, both sides taking a point, the Title heads to Kineton with the Veg boys taking Runners Up spot. Congratulations to both teams on a great competitive Season.

Real Barston 5 Ettington Rovers 6
Ettington must’ve thought this was in the bag when they were 0 – 3 up after 16 minutes with a brace by James McMillan and one from Glen Matthew. Dan Zoka and Benjamin Wheeler pulled Barston back into it with 2 goals before half time. Darius Potten-Ravenshad levelled the score shortly after half time, but McMillan was on a roll and grabbed his third to restore the lead. Matthew Gillett popped up to bring the scores level again and then James McDowell struck to give Barston the lead. McMillan wasn’t finished and 5 minutes later restored the parity, and to finish with a flourish up popped Amine Bouhali to nick the winner three minutes later.

We move on to Division 3
Chadwick End 1 Liberal Club C 0

A tight one here and Chadwick have a lone Connor McAndrew strike just before half time to thank for three valuable points that give them third spot in the table.

On to Division 4
Stockton 1 Leamington Hibs Reserves 4

This was the battle for Third place in the Table and Hibs left it late! Malachy Rose had put Stockton in front only for Craig Wallsgrove to equalise shortly before half time. The second half belonged to Hibs but it took the hour mark before it came together. Luke Marriott snapped up a quick brace in a 14 minute spell and then with seven minutes left on the clock Noah Cullinan grabbed the clincher. Hibs take Third Spot.

Still playing catch-up we move on to Thursday 23rd May 2019 and a Division 3 Third Place decider.

Chadwick End 6 Hampton Magna 1
Chadwick End had too much here for Magna who have enjoyed a good season under new boss Jack Mancini. This was the Connor McAndrew show as he struck 4 goals in a sizzling display. Lewis Broadhurst and Martin Byrne got the others. Adam Timlin with the Magna reply.

We move on to Tuesday 21 May 2019 and that means Division 1, where it’s still all to play for.

Westlea Wanderers 1 Bishops Itchington 2
Westlea took a first half lead through Joe Wright but two late strikes by Jase Bradshaw and Tom O'Callaghan inside the last 10 minutes took the points back for the villagers. The cat really is amongst the pigeons now and three teams are vying for top spot. The last game of the Season is Sunday 26th May where Bishops take on Leam Hibs at Stockton for the Chance to depose Westlea from Top Spot.

Where next?

Cancer Research Cup Final - Sunday 19th May 2019 Bishops Tachbrook 3 - 5 Westlea Wanderers
George Dutton Cup Final - Tuesday 14th May 2019 Bishops Itchington 3 - 1 HRI Wellesbourne
