Challenge Cup finalists decided

The Tracey Thomas Challenge Cup

Both finalists for this season's Tracey Thomas Challenge Cup final (which will be held on Sunday 5th May) were decided this weekend.

Radford Semele were first through with an emphatic victory over Leamington Hibs Reserves - who in their first season have to be commended for getting as far as the semi-finals of the all-divisions challenge cup. Their excellent cup run was brought to a halt as Radford Semele had far too much for the Division Four team, as Matthew Buckham hit a hat-trick and Paul Wilkinson grabbed a brace. Harry Davies scored a consolation for Hibs, as Radford went through to the final with a convincing 5-1 victory.

Khalsa come close to a late equalizer

Khalsa come close to a late equalizer

Current Division One league leaders Westlea Wanderers narrowly came through against current Division Two league leaders Kineton. Westlea went ahead twice in the first-half, with goals from Jamie Webb and Ryan Woodward, but Kineton equalised each time, through Max Coton and then a James Keller penalty. Westlea left it late to finally get a winner, but with ten minutes to go, Mike Ellis grabbed the winner to see them through 3-2.

Division One

It was a tight game at the top of Division One between Khalsa and Leamington Hibs. In a game with chances at both ends, it was own goal from the unfortunate Lewis Jarrett that gave Hibs a first-half lead. Despite pressure from Khalsa in the second half, the own goal was all that separated the two sides, giving Hibs a 1-0 victory, which, with their two games in hand, maintains the pressure on Westlea at the top of the table.

Division Two

In Division Two, Leamington Vets and Heathcote Athletic battled out a goalless draw, while Radford Albion inflicted more league misery on Dynamo Leamington, as goals from Sion Humphreys, Dan Burden and Paul Houghton gave Radford a 3-0 victory and left Dynamo still looking for their first away win of the season.

Division Three

It was honours even over at Aylesford School, as Hampton Magna and Princethorpe fought out a 2-2 draw. Ashley Turnbull and Trav Lea were on target for Magna, with George Jones and Ed Spencer getting the goals for Princethorpe.

Division Four

A tight game between Warwick Boar and Whitnash United saw Boar grab all three points with a Steve Nollett goal on the hour-mark to give them a 1-0 victory, while Stockton FC went down 2-0 to Blackdown for whom Adam Hughes and Conor Chamberlain scored.

Finally, on a bad day for the Stockton teams, Stockton United travelled to Wellesbourne, where HRI Wellesbourne Reserves notched only their second win of the season with a 5-0 thrashing of United. Shamir Entezar put HRI ahead in the first-half, before HRI threw the form book out of the window and scored three quick second-half goals through Arundeep Sodhi, Greg Eales, and Michael Mandla, before Shamir Entezar rounded things off and grabbed his second, and HRI's fifth, to give them a much-needed victory.
