Latest Weekly Round-up.

Weekly Round-up for Sunday 14 April 2019, and we start with our Match of the Day which this week comes from Racing Club Warwick, and is the Division 3 Cup Final, sponsored by Nick Chambers in Memory of his Father Chris who served this League for over 25 years.

Hampton Magna 6 VTS Warwick 1 [/b]

A cold Warwick day but the game was certainly a warm blooded Cup Final. It ended up one sided but it was evenly matched on the pitch. Hampton Magna were the better side in the first half but it still took 35 minutes to break the deadlock. A loose ball wasn’t cleared from a free kick and Adam Timlin took advantage hooking the ball back over the keeper who was stranded, into the net. Magna added to the lead just before half time with a neat free kick to the far post where it was met by Mike Jefferson who stooped to head home from close range.

VTS had their half time team talk on the pitch and it seemed to work. A corner from the right swung into the box and it was met sweetly by Jay Leahy who thrashed it home on the half volley. Tails up now and VTS were looking sharp. Going forward was their downfall though and they were caught on the break. Magna took advantage to extend the lead and two goals in quick succession from Timlin secured a Cup Final hat-trick. It was looking bleak. VTS continued to look for more goals but Magna held firm and another break down the left, Sam Perry cut inside and loosed off a cracker into the far corner to make it 5 – 1 . Charlie Woodward finished the scoring off meeting a corner at the far post to nod home.
The scoreline flatters Magna who were made to work all the way by VTS. An entertaining Cup Final which was enjoyed by a good sized crowd. Gary Vella of Racing Club Warwick presented the Cup and Awards on behalf of the Chambers Family.

Ettington Rovers 3 HRI Wellesbourne 1

The Veg boys were looking to complete stage two of a possible treble, having won the Division 2 Cup last week. Greg Eales started where he left off putting HRI ahead on 27 minutes. Unfortunately that’s where it went awry. Carl Taylor levelled just before half time, and then Jordan Lewis put Ettington in front just after the re-start. It stayed tight then with chances at either end. Glen Matthew put the nail in the coffin with a last minute goal to take Ettington into the Final. HRI are still chasing the League title and the Double is still on.

We move on to the Leamington Referees' Association Andy Campbell Challenge Cup 2018-19 - Semi-Final

Chadwick End 3 Dynamo Leamington 2

Dynamo were last week’s beaten Cup Finalists and this week were looking to make amends. It was a great start as they took a 2 – 0 lead with strikes from Alik Rouse and Ash Rowley. Adam Key pulled one back for Chadwick with 35 minutes gone, then Ciaran Grace popped up to make it all square 5 minutes later. The second half was a tight affair but that man Grace struck again on the hour and that was the goal that settled it. Chadwick held on and go through to the Final

We move on to League Action and start with Division 2

Heathcote Athletic 5 Real Barston 3

Heathcote were in control here but nearly blew it when Barston came back in the second half. John Aston had put Heathcote ahead on 25 minutes and Nick Keenen made it 2 – 0 just on half time. The second half goal fest started 5 minutes into the second half. Keenan grabbed his second only for David Jolly to pull one back for Barston. Keenen then grabbed his hat-trick 5 minutes later only to see Dan Zoka pull one back 5 minutes later again! With 10 minutes to go Jolly got his second to bring Barston back into it , but evergreen Chris Collier sealed the points for Heathcote 5 minutes from time. Heathcote are in third spot in the table, but it’s all to play for as Radford Albion have games in hand.

Khalsa Reserves 0 Kineton S&SC 3

Kineton retain the top spot in the Table with three valuable points here. Equal fastest goal of the day from the Spot which Connoll Furrell converted to put the visitors ahead. It remained tight until the hour mark when Mitchell Keyes stuck a second goal away for Kineton. Furrell grabbed his second with 12 minutes to go to take the points back to Kineton. The Kineton vs HRI match is going to take this Title chase to the wire!

We move on to Division 3

Castle Rangers 0 Harbury 0

The very rare beast of a nil- nil draw on a Sunday morning here. With Harbury dropping points, they have left the door open for Chadwick and Hampton Magna in the fight for the Runners Up spot.

Liberal Club C 1 Bishops Tachbrook FC 6

Liberal Club were the quicker off the mark and a strike from Richard Clarke put them ahead on 25 minutes. Then it became the Adam Knight show. The youngster stuck another four away to consolidate his Golden Boot position. Lewis Christian and a rare Dan Bates goal were the other finishers. The League Title is wrapped up but can they go the whole Season unbeaten in the League?

We move on to Division 4

HRI Wellesbourne Reserves 0 Stockton 4

Stockton are still in the shout for Honours in Division 4 and the Veg boys were put to the pitchfork. Richard Davies led with a brace, Haydn Chaundy and Ruben Padin got the others.

Leamington Hibernians Reserves 9 Lillington Juniors Reserves 0
This one was a one sided affair and Hibs with games in hand start to squeeze up on the Top of the Table. Harry Davies led the way with a hat-trick. Elliot Smith grabbed a brace. Liam Bullimore, Mitchell Williams , Luke Marriott and Brandon Hoey also got in on the action.

Stockton United 3 Blackdown 8

The other fastest goal of the day came in this one. Will Wall getting his first on 5 minutes to put United ahead. Unfortunately by the time he scored his second, Blackdown had stuck six of their own away. Ashley Bradbrook helped himself to a hat-trick. Jamie Campton got a brace. Adam Hughes, Cameron Coutts and Alex Chamberlain got the other Blackdown strikes. Will Wall and Mitch Coleman with two late consolations for United. Blackdown need to hold their nerve now as it’s all to play for.
